Covid-19 in Amsterdam Airport Schiphol

2020 April | Covid-19 in Amsterdam Airport Schiphol

IPA 2020 Honorable Mention

The story behind the pictures:

Last year, before the covid-19 erupted, I was an exchange student studying in Kufstein, which is a very marvelous town in Austria. However, just when I begin to enjoy my exchange life, the covid-19 outbroke in the whole of Europe. The government could not help but need to limit people to stay at home. Also, the mall and the restaurants closed. Therefore, I decided to go back at that time.

April 4, I packed all my stuff, jumped on the only train headed to the airport. After 4 hours, I arrived at the airport, with all my face masks and gloves on. However, when I took my first flight and arrived at the Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, the staff from the airline told me that I have to wait for my flight for three days, and I could not go outside because Netherland limited all the visitors from the other countries. Thus, I could only stay at the airport...

Game Start...

the airport blocked all the chairs
the only shop which has the hot food
You even don't need to find a cart
Heineken - from Netherland - closed
All the shops  and restaurants closed at that time
Play what?
Interesting Thing: All the travelers sat with the social distances(1.5 meters), drank Heineken and talked to each others...
When I stayed at the airports , all the asian wear the protecting clothes, but the others just wear the mask...
CORONA : Prevent Infection
the end of the story:
I stayed at the Amsterdam Airport Schiphol for three days. During the days, I spoke with the police who is working in the airport, and he told me that, he has never seen this situation in his whole working life.
Covid-19 ruined the whole world in 2020, even my exchange plan interrupted. However, I still think that I am the lucky person who can stay alive and want back to my country - Taiwan. Hope everyone can move on courageously.
